Tui-na' history began
during the period of the New Stone Age around
2700 B.C.. People in China gradually accumulated
experience of massage while seeking comfort
for their ailments. Some special methods that
originated from the self-defense instinct were
turned into Tui-na Techniques. For example,
treatment with hand pressing, kneading and stroking
was called " An-Mo"; the treatment
of making the patients flex and extend their
hands, feet, and breath in prone or supine position
was called " leading" (pressing) or
"stepping".
